The Maintenance Technician for Elliott-Nielsen-Sanlo in Binghamton, NY provides support to operations through responsive, effective repairs and improvements to manufacturing equipment, preventing downtime. The technician keeps all equipment in good repair by providing quick response to equipment breakdowns and through the use of preventive maintenance programs. Key responsibilities of this individual are:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all manufacturing equipment.
- Perform a variety of plant maintenance jobs throughout the facility.
- Perform scheduled maintenance activities (preventive / autonomous) as scheduled.
- Make improvements and updates to existing equipment.
- Initiate and implement cost reduction and continuous improvement projects.
- Participate in design review activities for new and existing equipment.
- Maintain spare parts inventory.
- Document all work performed on equipment (Mapcon software, etc.).
- Manage tooling calibrations on the production lines
- Perform facilities repairs as required.
- Participate in Kaizen events and support other World-Class practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Qualified individuals will possess the following attributes:
- Associates degree in an applicable technical field or 4 years applicable experience
- Requires a high degree of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, technical and/or analytical knowledge and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of PLC controlled equipment and industrial automation. Allen Bradley PLC highly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of machine controls.
- Knowledge of PLC's and ability to produce electrical schematics and PLC programs.
- Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, including test and measurement interpretation skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and PLC programming software. Mapcon experience preferred.
- Ability to work overtime based on business needs.
- Ability to exchange information with co-workers and work as part of a team.
- Ability to work autonomously and make independent decisions.
- Ability to work a variety of jobs.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to electrical shock and vibration.
- Ability to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations.
- Ability to work with a personal computer for moderate periods of time.
