Business Development Manager

Whippany Actuation Systems is looking for a talented sales engineer to join our Sales & Marketing team as our next Business Development Manager. In this role you would assure customer satisfaction by the timely design, development, manufacture, and support of cost effective, reliable actuators and motion control equipment. The Business Development manager will also identify and win profitable new business to grow sales of electromechanical actuation systems for aerospace and ground vehicles.

In this role, you would typically:
  • Primary customer interface throughout the new business cycle, responsible for building and fostering strong customer relationships and partnerships
  • Create, own, and manage the new business pipeline and drive opportunities in conjunction with the Business Unit Managers
  • Contribute to sales forecasting, long-term business planning, and product line strategy development
  • Meet with customers to understand their requirements, share technical information, and promote our company and products
  • Lead and conduct business, industry, market, platform, product, and competitor analysis to develop strategies to support business growth and profitability
  • Coordinate with internal departments to close actions to the satisfaction of the customer. Support Business Development through coordination of efforts with the Business Unit Managers

We require:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college
  • At least 3 years' experience in Sales, Business Development, and/or Program/Project Management
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Eligibility for any required U.S. Government authorizations to conform with U.S. export control regulations

Eligibility Requirements:

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.

We would really like to see:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. MBA is preferred.
  • Completion of a Leadership Development Program
  • Strong analytical skills. Must have ability to derive information/actions from data, and to process complex information to make sound data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in the aerospace and/or defense industry
  • Sales or Business Development experience in an Aerospace components business is preferred
  • Exhibit leadership qualities, self-motivates and demonstrates a can-do attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to read, interpret and negotiate contracts, Statement of Work and Customer Specifications
  • Strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel)
