Job Description

The Associate Social Media Editor plays an important role in helping to grow our audiences, fostering engagement and executing daily publishing and content promotional strategies on our social channels-including Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and Threads.

The Associate Social Media Editor reports to and works closely with the Senior Social Media Editor to support a social media strategy that grows referral traffic, increases on-platform engagement, grows audience and supports revenue goals and brand building. As a member of the social team, you will also partner regularly with shared teams including editorial, design, social strategy and more to help move social priorities forward.

In this role, you will use data and insights-as well as testing and experimentation-to help guide content guide content creation. You will foster a deep understanding of how great brands and publishers stand out in feeds and know how to create engaging posts that drive results. You will strive for editorial excellence in all that you do, while working in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple large-scale social media accounts for a national brand.

About Your Contributions:

  • Work with the Senior Social Media Editor to help execute a social posting strategy for key platforms to drive growth and engagement on all platforms and foster brand building.

  • Curate content for daily social promotion using data, trends and insights.

  • Work with visual and design to create custom graphics. Light design work in Photoshop.

  • Write compelling post copy that reflects our brand voice and values; authentically and consistently engage with the followers to foster community and engagement.

  • Understand key metrics and unique audiences needs for EatingWell's priority social accounts. Regularly monitor performance to meet both on-site and platform goals, pivoting and testing new tactics as platform needs and audience behaviors evolve.

  • Participate and present in metrics meetings, reporting on performance, data and insights to help inform posting strategy, content ideation and identify opportunities for growth.

  • Identify opportunities for new tactics to drive growth, working with Senior Social Media Editor to design experiments, execute tests and report on results.

  • Pitch content ideas, attend editorial planning meetings and occasionally write stories and produce videos, as needed, to support social media goals.

  • Maintain a high-proficiency on all scheduling and reporting tools, identifying opportunities to optimize post schedules to ensure the most efficient workflows and improved outcomes as content promotion strategies evolve.

  • Shoot, edit and publish original short-form videos for social, as needed

  • Monitor accounts routinely, surface issues that arise on any platform and assist with community management.

  • Keep up to date on social media best practices, trends, competitor growth/activities and new opportunities, communicating regularly with the Senior Social Media Editor and Social Strategy team to align on priorities and be accountable for measurable results.

  • Help to execute campaigns around editorial tentpoles as well as pitching social media initiatives and other social-only campaigns.

  • Support launching on new platforms as they arise.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing, Public Communications or relevant professional experience preferred

  • 2-3 years of professional experience in social media for a food or lifestyle brand.

  • Experience working in Facebook Insights, TrueAnthem, Dash Hudson and Google Analytics strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of Pinterest (platform, business analytics and trends) strongly preferred

  • Excellent writing skills and editorial judgment; experience writing engaging copy specifically for digital and social media

  • Proven track record of implementing and executing growth strategies in previous social media roles, resulting in increased follower engagement, platform reach and conversion rates.

  • Experience with visual storytelling and basic photo editing (Adobe Creative Suite)

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Love brainstorming new ideas, have a sharp eye and can create your own graphics/shoot video.

  • Not afraid to experiment, try new things and learn new tools and features.

  • Experience with and enthusiasm for using analytics tools to create reports and inform decision making.

  • Available for social support as needed for special events, which may occur on evenings and weekends.

  • A love for all things related to food, cooking and being in the kitchen and a deep passion for connecting people through social media

  • Self-driven; high degree of collaboration, organization, and positivity; ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment.

Pay Range

Salary: $62,400 - $62,400

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees.
