What You Will Do:

We are seeking a Chief Inspector to join our team for paving projects located in Cheshire, Farmington and Southington, CT. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in overseeing and coordinating paving work. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks including, overseeing field operations, facilitating payments, conducting meetings, client and Contractor interaction, and managing day-to-day operations with field staff which will including occasional night and weekend shifts operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage paving work, ensuring the contractor's adherence to the project's plans and specifications.
  • Process and track Contractor payments and change orders for the advanced utility work, including coordination with the Contractor and client in the processing of the payments.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings with project stakeholders, utility companies, and other relevant parties.
  • Communicate updates, challenges, and project progress to the client.
  • Oversee day-to-day advanced utility work operations, monitor progress, identify and coordinate issue resolutions.
  • Supervise night and weekend shifts based on project needs.
  • Individually complete and review field staff's Daily Inspection Reports.
  • Monitor Contractor schedules.
  • Maintain an organized project filing system.
  • Review and coordinate resolution of field technical issues.
Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum BS - Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management programs or NICET- Certified in Transportation Construction Inspection (TCI) Level 3 or higher required
  • Have a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with ConnDOT on utility, roadway, and bridge projects.
  • ACI Level 1, NETTCP, ASSTA Certifications are highly desired.
  • Completion of OSHA Safety Training.
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of ConnDOT regulations, procedures, and requirements and a familiarity with documentation and reporting processes and programs.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must possess a driver's license to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
  • Must be physically capable and willing to work outdoors.
  • Must have the ability to work efficiently with little supervision.
  • This position requires travel and varied working hours

Core Business Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, though hours may vary depending on the project
